Helvetica [A Documentary Film]

This documentary demonstrates Helvetica's impact on human life and thought. While some praise it as a conceptional breakthrough never to be questioned, others blast it for perpetuating conformity.
Happy 50th Helvetica!

Ralph Waldo Emerson

To laugh often and much,
to win the respect of intelligent people
and affection of children,
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends,
to appreciate beauty,
to find the best in others,
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch…
to know even one life
has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

To be yourself in a world that is constantly
trying to make you something else
is the greatest accomplishment.

Mantra...

Saw this today and thought I'd share with all, a design-ism of sorts.

I love NYC (cont'd).

I just returned from 2 fabulous days in NYC, drunk on design after seeing Stefan Sagmeister and visiting various galleries throughout SoHo and the East Village. A quick stop to see Coney Island followed by MoMA completed the trip on Wednesday. There was something truly amazing, inspiring and invigorating about being lost in the streets of The City. It made me realize how much I love New York.

The IKEA Complete Bedroom.

Truly amazing how they have used the slow motion and different 'voyeur' views to show the idea of what a 'quiet place' means to a diverse group of people. Bravo!

Animations with Type

Using Type in print is great, but putting it in motion really brings it to life.
